Macclesfield Silk Museums

We are launching a new collecton of based on the history of The Macclesfield Stripe. In the 1920-30s Macclesfiled manufactures developed a silk fabric that was dazzling and practical. Striped silks that created a fashion for summer dresses and accessories that were light and could be "boil washed". They were an instant fashion and poular, as can be seen by Bonzo's reaction on a seaside postcard from the era.
